The Heights is one of the most varied neighborhoods in Little Rock to clean. From mid-century ranches on tree-lined streets to newer custom builds along Cantrell, the homes span 70+ years of construction styles. Here's what we've learned about working in them.
Older Heights homes (1940s-1960s)
Many original Heights homes have hardwood floors that have been refinished at least once. They handle a damp mop better than original-finish Hillcrest floors but still don't love steam. Tile bathrooms from this era often have classic 4x4 wall tile that's beautiful and durable; grout is the weak spot.
Mid-century ranches
Long, low ranches with lots of floor area. The cleaning math is different here — more floor relative to bedrooms, often more linear feet of baseboard. Allow more time per visit than the bedroom count would suggest.
Newer custom builds
The custom homes along Cantrell and the newer infill along Lookout and Crystal mostly look 2010+. They have luxury vinyl plank, engineered hardwood, large primary bathrooms with stone or porcelain tile. Cleaning these is straightforward — modern materials, modern grout, fewer surprises.
What's consistent across Heights homes
- Family-sized — typically 3-4 bedrooms, 2-3 bathrooms
- Active households — most homes have kids and pets
- Frequent entertaining — kitchen and main living areas get hard use
- Lots of outdoor traffic from yards and the surrounding parks
What works for Heights households
Bi-weekly recurring service is the sweet spot for most Heights homes. Weekly for households with kids under 8 or multiple pets. A consistent, background-checked team — visit-to-visit familiarity matters more in a larger home with more variation than a one-bedroom apartment.
